Aeration Systems

Aeration is the process of adding air to the water column.  To restore a lake to health, it is essential to have oxygen present within the water column.  Lake eutrophication begins when the BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand) of a lake cannot be met. When too much pollution enters a lake, plant and algae growth dies and sinks to the bottom, resulting in an overload of organic sludge.  Anaerobic bacteria, which needs no oxygen, give off deadly poisonous gases, such as hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, and methane. These gases, as they rise through the water, unite with and bind up dissolved oxygen remaining in the water. Fish will then die from lack of oxygen.

Clean Lakes offers three different types of aeration systems depending on your current needs.

Hypolimnetic Aeration or air that is injected into the bottom portion (hypolimnium) of the lake thus allowing for hypolimnetic water to circulate, promoting a healthy underwater environment.

Diffuser Systems:  Diffuser type aeration systems can be used as both an effective way to increase DO (Dissolved Oxygen) and as a means of circulating water within a lake or pond system.

Fountain Aeration.  Fountain aeration can be used as both an effective way to increase DO (Dissolved Oxygen) and as a decorative addition to your lake/pond.  We have been selling and installing Otterbine Aeration Systems for several years.  We provide onsite repair and maintenance of all systems installed by our staff.
