Mechanical Control of Aquatic Plants & Algae

Clean Lakes, Inc. staff pioneered the use of mechanical aquatic vegetation control technologies that included the development of various technologies that included the Aquamog's.  Mechanical control of aquatic vegetation  involves the removal of the nuisance growth from a water body.  Aquatic Plant Harvesters are machines which both cut and collect aquatic plants. Cut plants are removed from the water by a conveyor belt system and stored on the harvester until disposal.  The harvester then transports the cut vegetation to shore. The shore station equipment consists of a Shore or Trailer Conveyor system that mates to the harvester and accepts the vegetation that is off loaded from the harvester.  Harvested weeds are disposed of in landfills, used as compost, or in some cases stockpiled to dry and then worked into the soil.

The advantages of mechanical harvesting is that immediate results are obtained and the removal of aquatic plants can be selective.  Mechanical harvesting can also be effective in places that have restrictions on the use of aquatic herbicides (i.e. water treatment plants, irrigation canals).

Clean Lakes, Inc. offers mechanical aquatic weed harvesting services as an alternative to aquatic herbicide and algaecide treatments.  We utilize state of the art equipment that includes Aquamog's, Cookie Cutters, Mechanical Harvesters, Trailer Conveyor system to conveniently offload harvested weeds onto shore, Long Reach Excavators, and disposal service.
