NOTICE OF 2025 COEUR D'ALENE LAKE
CURLY-LEAF PONDWEED TREATMENT
Dear Property Owners and Lake Users,
Curly-leaf pondweed has been identified as a significant invasive species within Coeur d'Alene Lake, Idaho and is known to negatively affect the beneficial uses of a waterbody. As such, an aquatic herbicide treatment is planned for portions of northern Coeur d'Alene Lake during the week of June 16, 2025, weather and water conditions permitting. The treatment timing was selected to maximize treatment efficacy when Curly-leaf Pondweed is actively growing. Less than 2 acres will be treated during one treatment event with liquid endothall (Aquathol K, USEPA Registration # 70506 -176) and liquid diquat (Littora, USEPA Registration # 67690-53).
Water use restrictions will be in effect for water intakes within the treatment area. The following information for water use restrictions is provided below:
Recreational Use of Water in the Treatment Area: There are no swimming or fishing restrictions within the treatment area.
Human Consumption: Potable water restriction in effect during and after treatment within and adjacent to the treated area for 3 days. However, there are no known active potable water intakes that exist within or adjacent to the treatment area.
Animal Consumption: There are no known potable water intakes that exist within or adjacent to the treatment area for the supply of drinking water to livestock. There is no restriction to incidental exposure for pets that may drink water.
Irrigation: Irrigation restrictions will be in effect for irrigation to turf and landscape ornamentals for 3 days. There are no irrigation restrictions for the use of endothall at this site.
